Hi

I am Alison, a soft tissue therapist.  My journey began just over 2 years ago when I undertook a Swedish massage course, initially this was a hobby which I enjoyed practising on my friends and family (lucky them).  I became hooked and enrolled in more training. So I went part time from my job as a primary school teacher and became a massage therapist working from my home and visiting clients in their homes in and around Barrow upon Humber.

Journey so far
I enjoyed providing treatments that helped my clients to unwind and relax.  I wanted to extend and develop my skills in order to provide a more in depth service that would support clients in pain and suffering from discomfort resulting from medical conditions and or occupational stresses.  So I trained as a Soft Tissue Therapist.

Qualification
I am now Alison Aherne Dip BTEC 5 SMRT NLSSM.  Which means I have completed a BTEC level 5 (the equivalent to the first 2 years of a University degree) in SMRT (Sport Massage and Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy) with NLSSM (North London School of Sports Massage).  This course was amazing providing really in-depth theory and practical application. Through assignments, practical assessments, a case study and competing over 100 hours logbook hours I have developed an in-depth knowledge of a range of techniques that can be used to treat a range of injuries, medical conditions,  postural deviations, tension caused by stress and sitting or standing for long periods of time.

Where?
I work from a therapy room in my home where I can sit with you to find out what is causing you pain or discomfort and what your goals are.  I can then develop a treatment plan that is specific to and will help you achieve your goals.

What next?
Get in touch so that we can meet and discuss how soft tissue therapy can benefit you.
